New Delhi, March 25, 2015. — Delegation of Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, headed by Nikolay Nikiforov carried out a number of working meetings during its official visit to the Republic of India. Heads of Minsvyaz met with Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies. Russian delegation also visited offices of Sistema Shyam TeleServices and Tata Services. The parties discussed collaboration of BRICS in spheres of development and promotion of software products prior to BRICS summit that will take place from 9th to 10th July in Ufa and a meeting of branch Ministers within BRICS.
The parties discussed collaboration in spheres of mass media and ways of increasing media literacy of population. Ministers also discussed draft agreement in sphere of mass communications between Governments of BRICS-countries. Nikolay Nikiforov suggested organizing familiarization tour to Crimea for leading Indian journalists and establishing Russian-Indian exchange of video materials and current data regarding Crimea.
Nikolay Nikiforov and Ravi Shankar Prasad discussed internalization of the Internet governance, collaboration in spheres of e-government services, decrease of prices in international roaming, collaboration in spheres of mobile and satellite communications, particularly, development perspectives of Sistema Shyam TeleServices. Delegation of Minsvyaz also visited office of telecom operator Sistema Shyam TeleServices.
Head of Minsvyaz and Ministers of India discussed meetings at highest level that will take place in 2015. Particularly, summit of BRICS that will take place from 9th to 10th July in Ufa and meeting of branch Ministries within BRICS that will be organized under the guidance of Minsvyaz. Nikolay Nikiforov also invited Indian Ministers to take part in Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum that will take place from 18th to 20th June in Saint-Petersburg.
Nikolay Nikiforov noted high level of import dependence of BRICS-countries on software products of several global companies and suggested to unite efforts for mutual development of software solutions. Delegation of Minsvyaz visited the largest Indian IT company Tata Consultancy Services Limited and got acquainted with Indian experience in creating software services and IT products.
