Moscow, April 15, 2015. — Rashid Ismailov, Deputy Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications, carried out working meeting with delegation of Ministry of Communications of Cuba represented by Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal, Deputy Minister of Communications, and Ernesto Rodriguez Hernandez, General Director on Informatics of Ministry of Communications of Cuba.
The parties discussed updating of memorandum on mutual understanding and collaboration in spheres of IT and innovations, signed by both countries in 2008 and possible collaboration in ICT sphere.
Rashid Ismailov told about Russian experience in modernizing telecom infrastructure, development of IT, postal services and public services in electronic form.
The parties also discussed possibilities of introducing Russian operators to telecom market of Cuba and perspectives of bilateral collaboration in sphere of satellite communications.
Rashis Ismailov and representatives of Cuba discussed creation of IT development center in Cuba, possibilities for certification of Cuban IT specialists in Russian universities and use of Russian developments in sphere of e-government by Cuban party.
“Russian IT industry is interested in markets of Latin America and we hope to take part in creation of IT center in Cuba,” said Deputy Minister. “We are also interested in this project. First of all, we have significant human resources that can be involved in work with Russian IT companies. Secondly, it plays important role in strengthening information security of our country,” noted Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal.
