Moscow, July 24, 2015. — Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation reports that identification in Wi-Fi network via login and password from the Unified Public Services Portal (UPSP) is available on all lines of Moscow underground.
Surname, name, mobile number or email are required for registration of personal account on the UPSP. This data must be confirmed with the code that will be delivered via SMS or email. More than 16 million Russian users have already received login and password from the UPSP.
Order of users’ identification for access to Wi-Fi networks in public places was established in pursuance of the Federal law №97 on May 5, 2014 “On introducing amendments to the Federal law ‘On information, information technologies and protection of information’ and certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation on coordination of data exchange with the use of infocommunication networks”.
Minsvyaz prepared and coordinated with the Federal Security Service and Ministry of Economic Development corresponding amendments to rules of telecom services delivery that were approved by the Governmental order №758 on July 31, 2014. According to this document identification of users is being carried out via surname, name and patronymic. Operator can carry out identification via mobile number, identification document or the UPSP account.
