Moscow, September 30, 2015. — Rashid Ismailov, Deputy Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications, carried out working meeting with Bilel Jamoussi, Chief of the Study Groups Department at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Standardization Bureau. The parties discussed operating of ITU telecom standardization sector (ITU-T), perspectives of its development, participation of Russian telecom administration in ITU-T and preparation to the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-16), which will take place in November 2016.
Bilel Jamoussi told about key goals of ITU-T. Particularly, standardization of further telecom networks, including 5 G, Internet of things, strengthening of trust and safety in Internet and protection of personal data.
Rashid Ismailov told that Russia fully supports ITU telecom standardization sector, aimed at development of ICT standards. He also noted excessive amount of ITU working bodies doubling functions of each other. “It hinders participation in all ITU bodies, especially for developing countries,” added he. The parties also discussed possibilities for merging some research commissions.
Rashid Ismailov told that Russia is preparing to WTSA-16 also in terms of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications. “Telecom administration of Russia fully supports participation of Russian companies in ITU-T. It contributes to objective and full development of infocommunication technologies in our country and in the world,” noted Rashid Ismailov.
