Havana, October 6, 2015. — Rashid Ismailov, Deputy Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications, met with Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal, Deputy Minister of Communications of the Republic of Cuba. Meeting of Co-chairs of Russian-Cuban Working Group for Information Technologies and Intergovernmental Russian-Cuban Commission for Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation took place during official visit of Russian interdepartmental delegation to bilateral Russian-Cuban consultations on international information security.
The parties discussed previously achieved agreements in spheres of telecom, IT and mass communications, regulation of radiofrequency spectrum and reduction of prices on calls in roaming and perspectives of collaboration in ICT sphere.
Rashid Ismailov presented Russian experience in development of e-government and interdepartmental electronic cooperation, development and launch of the system on combating electronic fraud Independent registrar, the State Information System on Housing and Public Utilities (GIS HPU) and introduction of digital passports.
Deputy Minister of Minsvyaz highly evaluated development of collaboration between the FSUE International information agency Russia Today and information agency of Cuba Prensa Latina. He also noted active cooperation between Rostelecom and ETECSA in spheres of traffic transit and data transmission.
Members of the meeting discussed perspectives of collaboration in sphere of satellite communications. Russian satellite Express-AM8 was launched on September 15, 2015. It will be placed into operation in December 2015. It will be possible to use it for organization of main canals between Havana and Moscow.
