Budapest, October 12, 2015. — Bilateral meetings of Nikolay Nikiforov and his colleagues from Japan, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan took place on the exhibition of the International Telecommunication Union ITU Telecom World 2015. Head of Minsvyaz met with Yasuo Sakamoto, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, Ali Abbasov, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, and Abdul Razaq Vahidi, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Afghanistan.
The parties discussed cooperation between Russia and Japan in spheres of telecom and IT. Nikolay Nikiforov supported Japanese project on research of activities of the FSUE Russian Post and noted that it will help to improve transportation conditions and increase quality of postal services. Specialists from Japan are currently considering level of satisfaction of Russian post clients, evaluate quality and speed of postal delivery and analyze effectiveness of existing logistic schemes and routes. Results of this research will be summarized in April 2016. Nikolay Nikiforov told that Russian Post is launching postal bank. It will start to deliver financial services in 2016.
Nikolay Nikiforov and Yasuo Sakamoto discussed cooperation between Russian telecom and IT companies and Japanese partners, preparation of draft joint statement on mutual understanding concerning collaboration between countries and decrease of prices on calls in international roaming.
Ali Abbasov and Nikolay Nikiforov discussed possible signing of bilateral intergovernmental agreement in sphere of infocommunications, perspectives of collaboration between Russian and Azerbaijan telecom operators and possible signing of memorandum on decrease of prices on telecom services in international roaming.
Members of the meeting discussed largest international events, where representatives of Russia and Azerbaijan will take part. Particularly, the 21st Azerbaijan conference and exhibition Telecommunications and Information technologies that will take place on 2–5 December in Baku and International meeting at highest level on information society organized by ITU on December 14–15 in New York.
Nikolay Nikiforov and his colleague from Afghanistan discussed regional cooperation and Afghanistan’s perspectives for joining the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications, cooperation of countries in the field of telecom and education in IT and telecom spheres.
