Skolkovo, October 20, 2015. — Nikolay Nikiforov, Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications, made welcome speech on the final of the international competition of IT projects Web&Tech Ready 2015. He told about development of IT and telecom in Russia.
“We are facing technological revolution today. Number of Internet users in Russia increased by 24 million people within the last three years. We are carrying out the largest constructing of fiber-optic communications bands to all inhabited localities with population over 250 people. 97% of Russian population is provided with access to high-speed and reasonably priced Internet. We are the largest Internet market today. Penetration of Internet access and modern technologies will be constantly growing,” said Nikolay Nikiforov, “However, we still lack highly qualified IT specialists. We should invest in state-financed studying places, startups and organizations dealing with seed investments. More than four thousand projects already took part in Web&Tech Ready. Many of them attracted additional investments. We are focusing on innovations, knowledge-intensive startups and perspective developments. We should export our potential and make our country a better place for life and work.”
Head of Minsvyaz also took part in opening ceremony of Blaise Pascal Street. A well-known Pascal Pyramid monument was established in honor of this event. One of programing languages was developed on the base of Pascal Pyramid.
Web&Tech ready is an international competition and investment forum for IT projects. It was established in 2009 with support of Skolkovo Fund.
Ten nominations were presented this year. Particularly, Mobile technologies, Robotechnics, Commercial software, Industrial Internet, Technologies for development and creation of games. The winners will get money grunts and special prizes from partners.
More than four thousand projects took part in the competition. More than 50 projects attracted above one billion ruble investments.
