Moscow, October 21, 2015. — Nikolay Nikiforov, Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications, met with Say Samal, Minister of Environment of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The parties discussed collaboration in spheres of energetics and infocommunications, ensuring safety in Internet and using possibilities of GLONASS.
Nikolay Nikiforov told about activities of Minsvyaz on ensuring safety in Internet and developing space of trust. “Demonopolisation of IT market is of great importance today. Internet shouldn’t be controlled by one country and few companies. We should create our own IT products and software, increase share of our companies on international market. It will help to maintain sovereignty of our country, but also to achieve key security goals,” said the Minister. Head of Minsvyaz suggested Cambodian companies to expand their presence on Russian market and noted that Russian party is ready to share its experience in sphere of ensuring information security and combating distribution of illegal content in Internet.
The parties also discussed expanding of collaboration in sphere of energetics. Say Samal suggested organizing mutual exchange of specialists in order to share experience in this sphere.
The parties also discussed use of Russian navigation system GLONASS in Cambodia, supplies of Cambodian seafood to Russia and export of Russian gasoline to Cambodia.
Nikolay Nikiforov is Co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Russian-Cambodian Commission for Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation on the part of Russia. The VIII session of this Commission took place in March 2015. Protocol and bilateral agreements, including mutual plan of activities for 2015 –2017 were signed as a result of the meeting.
